Roaring success as the University of Wolverhampton's TikTok account is ranked 5th in the recent 'Top 50 UK Universities on TikTok Vol.2' report created by the Nonsensical Agency.

In a recent report published by the Nonsensical Agency, the University's TikTok account was ranked 5th out of 50 University TikTok accounts as a result of their "youthful vibe giving a relatable feel to the account which is great for prospective students".

Luke Green, Content Manager, says “It’s been a learning curve with the platform. Finding when the best time to post is, how many times to post in a day, down to hashtags and cover image. I’m proud of the work we’ve been doing on our content days with our content creators. Working with them to create engaging content that resonates with our audience and this latest ranking shows we are heading in the right direction.”

It is now believed that students use social media accounts to inform their decision of which University they would like to attend. The University TikTok account was only created in March 2022 and has since grown to 2432 followers. If you would like to also follow this exciting account, visit the official University TikTok page

The TikTok account was rated highly for consistency, relatability, showcasing student life and usefulness. In addition to these great characteristics, the Nonsensical Agency also praised the University TikTok account for their diversity. The University account successfully captures the range of ethnicities and student backgrounds our University is made up of and this is reflected in videos including a range of students including our international students.

Herjeavan Tagger, Digital and Social Media Officer says "We are really proud to see that the University is ranked 5th in Nonsensical | The TikTok Agency’s Top 50 UK Universities On TikTok 2023.

With the help of our graduate content creators we have been at work creating engaging and entertaining content and helping grow this new community we have on the platform. From videos showcasing Open Days, and student lifestyle content to once-in-lifetime experiences like meeting a Premier League footballer. Our TikTok channel has grown from strength to strength and this is a testament to that. We are looking forward to seeing where this channel goes."

A key focus for the University TikTok account is to continue to develop our University partnerships and affiliations. For example, the continually growing relationship with Wolves football club. One of the most popular TikTok videos released was when a South Korean footballer for Wolves visited students (also available on YouTube) at the Molineux on a field trip to surprise them.

When asked about how they achieved their success on TikTok, Luke Green explained "providing content that your audience is interested in, that is both on trend and relatable to your sector. Throw into the equation, the correct usage of hashtags to ensure it is sent towards your target audience, compelling copy to appease the search engine, and the use of trending sounds, templates and editing styles to keep up with the ever changing TikTok algorithm. Ensuring your content gets where it needs to be is akin to an algebraic equation, and trial and error is definitely the best way to success!"
