Short course for PhD students and early career on Environmental Contamination and Remediation

Call for applications: short course on ‘Environmental Contamination and Sustainable Remediation’, open to PhD students and early career researchers 

The School of Architecture and the Built Environment, in partnership with the National Brownfield Institute, UNESCO Black Country Global Geopark (Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council), Ecofill Innovation Hub and Dunton Environmental is organising a one-week advanced short course on ‘Environmental Contamination and Sustainable Remediation’.

The short course, where theory and practice combine, aims to prepare PhD students and early career researchers for the growing needs of multidisciplinary, professional and specialised skills in environmental contamination and sustainable remediation.

The course will be delivered over 5-days covering different aspects of environmental contamination and remediation, by including all pathways of contamination (air, water & soil). The course content will involve a combination of conceptual sessions, case studies, field visits and applied hands-on training, and will be delivered by a dedicated team of academics, practitioners, professionals and policy makers.


Course name: Advanced Early Career Short Course on Environmental Contamination and Remediation

Course Dates: 4 – 8 September 2023 (5 days)

Location: School of Architecture and the Built Environment (Springfield Campus), University of Wolverhampton, 
Wolverhampton, WV1 0JP

Eligibility Criteria: The target group of the programme are early career researchers in the UK - PhD students and early career researchers (within 10 years of PhD completion). The total number of participants will be limited to 25.

Interested candidates should also upload their full CV and a one-page motivation statement.

The last date for the submission of application is 10 July 2023
All selected candidates will be informed by the end of July 2023

Travel and Accommodation: Travel, accommodation, subsistence, and local field tour expenses for all selected participants within the UK will be fully covered.
