WLV alumni and staff produce new short film

24/07/2017

University alumni and a member of staff have produced a short film that will screen at City Campus on 1 August 2017.

Alex Hackett, Information Assistant, Learning & Information Services, teamed up with friends and University alumni to make the 12 minute film 'C O N S E N T'. Alex directs the film.

"I'm a graduate of Creative & Professional Writing and Film Studies at the University, and other members of the crew include alumni Timothy Wilkes (Video and Film Production) and Richard Barnes (Sound Technology)," Alex explains.

"The film will be screened at the University of Wolverhampton City Campus, in the George Wallis (MK) Building - MK045 - on 1 August at 6pm. Refreshments will be provided afterwards, and a short Q&A session will follow the screening. There will also be a poetry performance from a Creative & Professional Writing and Philosophy graduate, Roz Bruce, about the same topic.

"We've had some press interest from a short film magazine based in Sheffield and they're sending a writer to attend the screening. We are also being interviewed by the Express & Star, who are going to promote the screening. We would like to extend an invitation to all staff and students at the University to attend the screening.

"The film is all about encouraging open and honest communication and encouraging people, especially young people, to feel comfortable in their emotions and their ability to voice them when it matters the most. We have had some women reach out to us and say how thrilled they are that we've made a film on this topic, and an astounding number of women and young men have told us they can relate to it very personally.

"We hope to see you there!"
