Screening of From below: A film about mutual aid and grassroots community action during Covid-19

Dr Joshua Blamire and Dr Kathryn Spicksley of the Institute for Community Research and Development (ICRD) have organised a free film showing of From Below: A film about mutual aid and grassroots community action during Covid-19 at Newhampton Arts Centre on Thursday, 19 January 2023, at 6pm.

The film will be followed by a discussion with the researchers and filmmakers alongside invited speakers from academia, the public sector, and the community and voluntary sector who contributed to the wealth of activities that took place across the West Midlands. This event is free of charge, although if you are able, please donate what you can on the night. Any proceeds will be donated to community groups featured in the film and/or based in Wolverhampton. 

Where is the venue?

Newhampton Arts Centre is situated just outside the Wolverhampton Ring Road, close to the Molineux and West Park. It is a 15-minute walk from Wolverhampton train station and a 10-minute walk from the city centre. There is free parking on site.

Subtitles will be available. If you have any additional needs, please let the organisers know, and they’ll do what they can to accommodate you.

From Below is part of a research project funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council & led by Royal Holloway, University of London, and the University of Huddersfield. Learn more about the project.
