Celebrating top Master's student graduation success

Prathima Morbagilu Nagabhushana is one of our recent graduates of the MSc Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology programme at the University of Wolverhampton.
Her academic journey has been marked by dedication, passion, and a proactive approach to gaining valuable experience in the field of microbiology. During her studies at Wolverhampton, Prathima was awarded the prestigious Lord Paul Employability Scholarship, which enabled her to undertake a work placement at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Microbiology Laboratory. This hands-on experience allowed her to apply her academic knowledge in a professional setting, contributing to vital work in public health microbiology.
Prathima was also selected to present her master’s research project at the internationally recognised Biofilms Conference, where she delivered a poster presentation to an audience of global experts. Her attendance was generously supported by the Research Institute in Healthcare Science (RIHS) scheme at the University of Wolverhampton.
Reflecting on her achievements, Prathima expressed her heartfelt thanks: “I genuinely thank my project supervisor, Professor Iza Radecka, for her continuous guidance and encouragement. Her mentorship has been instrumental in my development as a researcher.”
Prof Radecka said: “Prathima’s story is a fantastic example of how the University’s support through excellent teaching, research, scholarships, and industry placements empowers students to grow academically and professionally while also preparing them for an excellent future in their chosen careers.”
Dr Opeolu Ojo, Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology and school postgraduate tutor, said: “This has been a great example of how a high-performing student can develop skills within a thriving science department, with mutual support and shared success. Prathima’s passion was undeniable right from her first day in class, and I am confident about her potential as a future leader in the field”.
We congratulate her on these well-deserved achievements and look forward to seeing where her journey in microbiology takes her next.
Follow your dreams Prathima!
