What made you decide to do the Employability Award?

I enrolled on a careers course for graduates from the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Employability Award was built into this course. I knew I needed to make my CV more professional but I did not envisage I would get so much more out of it.

How easy was it to get started on the award?

Very easy, I enjoyed the sessions where the tasks were clearly explained and we had the opportunity to make a start on some of them in class. I enjoyed completing the award alongside other students who were in a similar situation to me and the careers staff were very supportive.

What was the most enjoyable part of the award for you?

The most enjoyable part of the award for me was the career plan. It wasn’t until I completed the career plan that I knew making plans constructively was necessary and writing them was a huge step towards succeeding in my chosen career path.

What was the most useful thing you learned/ produced?

The presentation; this really helped me gain confidence.

How has the award helped you with your career planning and development?

I have recently started a placement to gain experience in my field which I feel the award really helped with. My CV is now attractive and I have more confidence for interviews.

What advice would you give to others thinking of starting the award?

You won’t know how helpful the award is until you complete it, every task is useful in its own way and all are related to your career planning.
