CILEx Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law & Practice

The level 6 professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice is the final academic stage towards qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer and it is set and assessed at Honours degree standard. In order to achieve this award you will need to complete six subjects in total. Upon successful completion of this stage you can apply to become a CILEx fellow once you have completed a period of qualifying employment.         

CILEx Level 6 Single Subject Certificate Qualification

Each CILEx unit that is offered by the University of Wolverhampton can be studied as a single subject certificate. Units you have successfully completed can also be taken into account if you decide to embark upon the full qualification.

Semester 2

In order to complete the Level Six Professional Higher Diploma you will need to complete:

·         Three law academic units

·         One practice unit (that is linked to one of the academic modules)

·         Both professional study units

 *You can also complete individual modules and receive a CILEx certificate in that module.

Studying with CILEx can also be a flexible and realistic route of study into the legal profession. If you are a Fellow of CILEx before you complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC) you may be exempt from the two-year training contract specified by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

A legal executive is a qualified lawyer.  The term 'legal executive' can only be used by Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), who have followed one of the prescribed routes to qualification. 

 Entry onto CILEx Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice requires:

  •  CILEx level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice or equivalent; 
  •  A satisfactory reference will be required as part of our selection process.

The University also offers a range of Bursaries and Scholarships in addition to other financial support packages

Tuition Fees Loan: If you wish, you can take out a Government Student Loan which covers the full course fee. You pay it back once you’ve left university and your income is more than £25,725 (from April 2019). More information on repayments can be found at: repayments.
It’s available to eligible full-time higher education students and does not depend on family income.

The amount of the Tuition Fees Loan is paid directly to the University of Wolverhampton by the Student Loan Company.
