Housing Management and Social Care

This course is unique to the University of Wolverhampton in combining housing and social care. Taught at our Telford Campus, it offers great social learning spaces, outstanding teaching technology equipment in teaching rooms including the new state-of-the-art £5 million Marches Centre of Excellence for Health and Social Care.

The new centre opened in summer 2021 and provides practical experience in the field of housing, as well as outstanding training for the next generation of housing professionals. It provides immersive simulation experiences that can be utilised effectively in the housing discipline in virtual real-life scenarios. This new, innovative and practical way of learning will enhance your knowledge through practice by developing key on-the-job skills in a safe, controlled learning environment.

Focused on coaching skills for housing professionals, you will explore coaching frameworks and approaches to help customers achieve the best possible outcomes, learning how to empower others and to examine the value of coaching in the customer/practitioner relationship.

You will develop key skills transferrable and applicable to the workplace. You will evaluate different approaches to problem-solving, communicating information, arguments and analysis in a variety of forms to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

You will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of specific housing needs and disadvantages faced by certain groups in society as well as critical awareness in relation to the delivery and funding of housing provision.

Other Requirements

Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH)

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) for the purpose of eligibility to apply for Chartered Membership with that body.

Tuition Fees Loan (Home Fee Status):

Changes for EU students:

The UK government has confirmed that EU students starting courses from 1 August 2021 will normally be classified as having Overseas Fee status. More information about the change is available at UKCISA:

Self-funding:

Your employer, embassy or organisation can pay for your Tuition fees:

If your employer, embassy or organisation agrees to pay all or part of your tuition fees; the University will refer to them as your sponsor and will invoice them for the appropriate amount.

We must receive notification of sponsorship in writing as soon as possible, and before enrolment, confirming that the sponsor will pay your tuition fees.

Financial Hardship:

Students can apply to the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund.

for help with course related costs however this cannot be used for fees or to cover general living costs.
