Podiatry is an allied health profession that specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the foot, the ankle and lower limbs. How it works

You will learn through a mixture of teaching and assessment methods including online, classroom-based, and practical learning.

The Podiatry Practice Apprenticeship utilises a blended learning approach covering flexible online learning, where apprentices can study at their own pace, alongside live virtual sessions that encourage real-time interaction with peers and the lecturing team. Other features include:

  • Completion of a minimum of 1,000 clinical practice hours
  • Preparation to work as part of a multidisciplinary team through interprofessional learning with other allied health disciplines
  • Human performance laboratory and gait analysis facilities to support your understanding of lower limb movement
  • Learning alongside students on the regular BSc (Hons) programme.

  • BSc (Hons) Podiatry Practice
  • Podiatry Practice Integrated Degree Apprenticeship
  • Eligibility to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) on graduation including POM-A and POM-S Annotations. 

Fees and funding

For employers with a payroll below £3 million: The Government will pay 95% of the cost of the apprenticeship training and assessment for apprentices of any age, for employers who will not be paying the apprenticeship levy. You may also be eligible for extra employer incentives.

For employers with a payroll above £3 million: Since May 2017 employers are able to use their Apprenticeship Levy contributions towards the cost of the apprenticeship using their digital account. We will agree a payment schedule and discuss funding availability before you start your apprenticeships and ensure the cost to your business is clear upfront.

Entry Requirements

  • Five GCSEs at C+/4 (including Maths, English, and Science)
  • A Levels at grades BBC (including one science subject) or equivalent qualifications equal to 112 UCAS Points
  • Recognised prior experience will be considered on case-by-case basis
  • You will also be required to attend an interview and must satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check and an occupational health check.
