How does it all work?

BiG is aimed at businesses creating or developing a New Product.

For a standardised cost of £1995 + VAT, businesses benefit from a technical graduate placement dedicated to working on their design, simulation, product or software development. Graduates recruited to the scheme are based in a Wolverhampton Science Park office with supervision and mentoring by University academic and professional staff.

They are paid by the University through the WXP programme and placements typically last for 6 weeks, but may be extended subject to agreement of terms with the business partner. Our graduates and academic staff are skilled to support developments in the following areas:

  • Product Design
  • CAD
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Simulation (Finite Element Analysis)
  • Prototyping (3D Printing)
  • Software Development and Applications.

Staged work packages are agreed between the company and the graduate/ supervisor team at the outset of the project, along with projected timescales, so you can plan the work to fit within your product development timescales.

Following a successful project, there may be further ways of continuing the company/graduate relationship with the University of Wolverhampton through programmes such as KEEN and WXP graduate placements offering longer term opportunities.
