Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Level 6

This professional Apprenticeship will provide deep, practical understanding of the latest digital technologies, applications and issues.

The modules studied have been developed to ensure the Apprentice gains knowledge and understanding in the topics covered and are able to apply the skills and knowledge gained in the workplace. This will ultimately enable the employer to meet their strategic goals and the Apprentice to develop and achieve their personal development plan and life goals.

After a common first year, each Apprentice on the course will develop a specialism as Business Analyst, Cyber Security Analyst, Data Analyst, IT Consultant, Network Engineer or Software Engineer. Honours Degree Apprentices gain the Knowledge, skills and applications sought by employers in today's competitive environments. In addition to the support provided by University staff. Apprentices will be supported by their employers in the workplace. Using industry-specific technology and equipment, Apprentices develop the technical, business, project, interpersonal and behavioural knowledge and skills to operate professionally in the workplace.

Apprentices will already be employed and, as part of this course, will be required to undertake formalised work-based learning activities. In addition to meeting the requirements of the final assessment, these will also help to enhance employability skills relevant to the current role of Apprentice and future roles as qualified professionals.

 

A variety of job opportunities exist at various levels within each specialism, with the curriculum designed to ensure that each of the core requirements for these disciplines has been embedded. Graduates of the Apprenticeship could be involved with the development of technological solutions to meet employers' requirements in the UK and overseas, and more experienced candidates will have opportunities to take on more senior roles in the industry.

 

Graduates may also be eligible to study related qualifications at Master's Degree level to further enhance their career opportunities.

The Degree Apprenticeship standard has been designed and developed in collaboration with many employers and professional bodies. Apprentices should be employed in roles where they are able to put their academic knowledge into practice via real life projects.

 

The usual duration for this course is four years and Apprentices will spend one day a week at the University. Delivery will be at our Wolverhampton City Campus and will include timetabled access to classrooms, lecture theatres. laboratories and workshops. There will also be occasional industrial visits and trips; and additional technician and teaching staff hours associated with teaching, project and practical activities, with further time committed to support Apprentices in the workplace to satisfy the work-based learning elements of the Degree Apprenticeship.

This Degree Apprenticeship will provide individuals with enhanced skills, knowledge and experience in a range of areas that will benefit the businesses.

 

It will combine training in your workplace with a programme of learning designed to meet career ambitions, whatever specialism route is chosen. Skills and training will be delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars workshops, online learning and employer-led projects.

At the end of the course, among the skills that will be developed, Apprentices will be able to:
• Demonstrate a range of transferable abilities in problem solving, communication, project management and more
• Apply appropriate theory, tools and techniques to synthesising solutions to requirements in the domain of digital economy
• Display a range of social, legal, ethical and professional skills required for continuing professional development in the computing discipline within a worldwide context
• Demonstrate mastery of essential facts, concepts, principles, theories and practices in applications of computing
• Apply a full understanding, knowledge and experience of the principles of digital technology and its applications to the management, design and production of a digital or technology solution
• Perform security risk assessments for a range of information systems and propose solutions.

 

On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, Apprentices will be awarded BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Professional (with Specialism) and their Apprenticeship Certificate.

To be eligible for admission to this programme, an Apprentice must be recruited jointly by University of Wolverhampton and an employer in a role with the responsibilities aligned with the degree content. Applicants should have a level 3 qualification (such as A-Levels, BTEC or equivalent) and at least grade C GCSE Maths and English to be eligible to apply; however, individual companies may also specify further requirements.

 

 

Apprentices must have studied a minimum of two years post-GCSE level. However, it is expected that some applicants will be mature students with work experience, who wish to further their career development. We will work with employers who have employees who fit this profile.

For employers with a payroll below £3 million:

For employers who will not be paying the Apprenticeship levy, the Government will pay 95% of the cost of the Apprenticeship training and assessment for Apprentices of any age. They may also be eligible for extra employer incentives.

For employers with a payroll above £3 million:

Employers will be able to use their Apprenticeship Levy contributions towards the cost of the Apprenticeship using their digital account.

 

We will agree a payment schedule and discuss funding availability with each employer before starting any Apprenticeships to ensure the cost to a business is clear upfront.
