Going to university was the best choice I ever made. My degree stays with me for life, and it taught me much more than I expected

I chose the University of Wolverhampton firstly for its close proximity to my home, but also because they accepted me as a mature student. I loved my time at University; the lecturers were always very supportive and friendly. The facilities were fantastic with a wealth of information available to help with my degree. I never expected to be provided with so much material to help me complete my assignments. Lecturers are so supportive and are always happy to help if you are struggling; all you have to do is ask.
The skills i have learnt being at university help me daily. I feel I am more confident in my work life and I am not scared to believe in myself and my capabilities. I network with other business owners daily and having a degree classification looks super on my social media profiles!
I design all my products, make them, and run the business independently. Days consist of taking orders, cutting fabric, sewing, packing, admin duties along with looking after two small children and life in general! I actually completed the final two years of my degree while setting up the business and falling pregnant with my second daughter in my final semester. I’ve exhibited nationally four times since last November; three times in Birmingham and once in Manchester. We’ve been featured in Tatler more recently which was a huge achievement! A typical weekday involves me fitting work around the school run, and working every evening, sometimes till the early hours to fit it all in.
I've been featured in Tatler, Thomas Cook in-flight magazine, and won an award for the best West Midlands Handmade Baby Business. A lot of this was due to the help from the SPEED initiative at the university!
Go and do it! Going to university was the best choice I ever made. My degree stays with me for life, and it taught me much more than I expected. It opened doors I never knew existed and gave me opportunities I didn't know were possible. I met some lovely people in the three years on my degree, and the staff are all super supportive and approachable.
