Kathryn is a Lecturer in Law and Legal Practice based within the School of Law. Kathryn continues to practise as a consultant solicitor, within the area of Family Law and Civil Litigation.

Prior to joining the University, Kathryn was an Associate Solicitor at a firm within Wolverhampton. Kathryn, having managed her own litigation department, has vast experience of litigious matters of a private and commercial nature.

Kathryn graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2004 with First Class honours and was awarded a Law Society Scholarship to pursue her chosen career as a solicitor. She graduated from the College of Law, Birmingham in 2005 obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice with commendation. She qualified a solicitor in December 2007.

Kathryn’s teaching interests stem from her experience within practice. Kathryn teaches on the Legal Practice Course, this is the last stage of academic study before students can progress to Trainee Solicitor status. Her past and continuing experience puts her in the best position to impart to the students the expectations of practice, together with both practical and legal knowledge.

Kathryn is heavily involved in enabling students to gain a more ‘hands on’ approach to the law and promoting student employability. She is the manager of Wolverhampton Legal Companions, a service provided within the local county court building whereby students give general advice and assistance to many court users who do not have legal representation. Kathryn is also a supervisor at the Legal Advice Clinic, a scheme whereby students provide legal information to members of the public in relation to a plethora of legal issues. In addition, Kathryn is the co-ordinator for the DWF Mentoring Scheme, a collaboration between the University and an International Law firm, enabling students to receive career advice from those already in practice.

Currently undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and Professional Practice at the University of Wolverhampton with a view to researching pedagogic theory and practice and become a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
