Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at Nottingham Trent University in 2005. Promoted to PL in Physical Chemistry in 2011, assuming the roles of UG courses manager and deputy head of department, becoming the Head of Chemistry and Forensics in 2015.
Joined University of Wolverhampton as Head of the Wolverhampton School of Sciences in 2016, awarded Chair in 2018.
Solid state and materials chemistry. Synthesis of inorganic-organic hybrid materials, mixed metal oxides and porous materials and the relationship between structure and physical and chemical properties. The study of luminescent materials is a central theme across all material types and includes luminescent processes arising from lanthanide ions, TM and main group ions and organic moieties forming part of phosphonate anions.
More recent work has begun to look at the use of metal phosphonates as anti-bacterial agents.
