Renal Nursing Academic Programme Development.
I qualified as a registered general nurse in 1988 and started my post registration practice as a staff nurse on a busy accident and emergency unit in the North East of England. Subsequent years in clinical practice have been spent in the nephrology nursing field, predominantly in haemodialysis units across the Midlands. Whilst working as Professional Development Lead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. I was involved in the development of a renal e-learning platform in collaboration with UK renal colleagues and OCE Media. During my career in clinical practice I spent 3 years as acting Modern Matron for renal services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust.
I am currently employed as senior lecturer with the University of Wolverhampton as award leader for the BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Health Care.
