Beverley completed the academic stage of legal training obtaining a 2:1 in Law at Liverpool John Moores University, and a commendation on the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, York. She commenced her training contract in September 2006 at a small criminal defence practice in Shropshire, where she gained experience working on a range of cases from road traffic matters to murder, representing clients in interview at the investigation stage at the police station, through to Crown Court representation.

Beverley qualified as a solicitor in 2008, and continued to work as a criminal defence solicitor and advocate, representing clients in proceedings at the Magistrates and Crown Court, and also at adjudication and parole board hearings, and continuing as an accredited police station representative. She continues to practise as a Duty Solicitor in East London.

In 2014 Beverley completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Wolverhampton, and has since taught law in further education and at postgraduate level on the Legal Practice Course and CILEx Level 6 Diploma. In 2015, she completed a LLM in Legal Practice, after completing a dissertation on the changes and developments to legal aid and the access to justice in criminal proceedings.

In her role as Legal Advice Centre Manager at the University, Beverley is committed to experiential learning and assisting students to fulfil their potential in gaining practical experience to complement their academic studies. Beverley has an interest in supporting and promoting additional activities with a view to embedding employability into legal education.

Beverley also provides support to students in the management and training of other pro bono initiatives, such as ‘Wolverhampton Legal Companions.’ She delivers training in relation to both criminal and civil legal aid to student volunteers, and assists with referrals to/from the University’s Legal Advice Centre, and is on hand to assist student volunteers in dealing with more difficult enquiries.
