We have created two new Institutes to bring together different disciplines where this will support new forms of student learning and business collaboration.
Our two new Institutes are centres of excellence in the creative and cultural industries, delivering:
The Institute of Gaming and Animation brings together design expertise, located within the School of Art and Design, with gaming expertise, located within the School of Computing and Information Technology, to provide an innovative suite of courses to meet industry needs.
The Institute of Media Arts brings together theoretical perspectives located in the School of Law, Social Sciences and Communications with high-level practical skills from the School of Art and Design.
Seeking to strengthen the future of Britain’s media and creative industries, the Institutes will play a crucial role in preparing our high calibre graduates for the demands of these challenging and competitive industries.
For example, graduates from the University are already successfully working with some of the biggest games developers worldwide.
The Institutes will also work with regional and international partners to develop a range of projects and applied research activities.
