This exciting event is being hosted by local law firm Higgs and Sons in collaboration with Black Country CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development), to stage a mock tribunal from start to finish. All roles will be played by associates from the firm - judge, lawyers and witnesses. There will be a bundle of documents in advance and witness statements. The witnesses will give their evidence and they will be cross examined.
The event will be based on a real case which went to tribunal last year. It concerns a delivery man who urinated on the wheel of his lorry early one morning when approaching the security hut of the employer's customer. He was as a result, dismissed and brought a claim arguing that the sanction applied was outside the band of reasonable response of a reasonable employer.
The event is sponsored by the University and is free, lunch buffet included.
Book your place via the booking form on the CIPD website.
