Sarah has been teaching public relations and marketing for nine years and has been involved in the development of two undergraduate degrees in public relations at the University of Wolverhampton and at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she previously worked.
Sarah has had a career in public relations spanning 18 years and has held both in-house and agency positions with international agencies, including McCann Erickson. Her research interests include online and social communication, and professionalism in public relations, which she is researching for her PhD at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, under the supervision of Dr Magda Pieczka and Dr Jacquie L’Etang.

She has worked with the Chartered Institute of Marketing as a senior examiner for five years, and has recently been involved in the development of a new postgraduate-level qualification for the CIM.

Research interests include: the use of social media for community engagement by public sector bodies including local authorities, emergency services and the NHS; the discourse of continuing professional development in PR; and professionalism in public relations.
