Fatawu is a senior lecturer in Finance and Accounting with module leadership responsibilities at both undergraduate and post graduate level at the University of Wolverhampton.

Fatawu is a chartered accountant and member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountant. He is also an affiliate member of institute of credit management.

His main teaching areas are, advanced financial reporting, international financial reporting standards (IFRS), contemporary issues in accounting and financial management (F2) at CIMA management level paper.

Fatawu also has extensive experience in the teaching of public sector auditing, corporate financial management, risk management and public sector accounting. 

His experience extends beyond the boundaries of academia. Prior to joining the University of Wolverhampton, he worked with TNS Field Ltd, one of the leading research organisations in UK as a research officer. He also worked with Ghana Telecommunication Company Ltd now Vodafone Ghana Ltd in various capacities as a finance officer, marketing manager and head of mobile division in the western region, Ghana.

Fatawu has extensive knowledge in oil and gas accounting particularly current issues in oil and gas accounting in emerging oil nations. He worked with a management consultancy firm with the responsibility of providing training and consultancy for small and medium enterprises in Ghana.

He has also successfully supervised dissertations both at the undergraduate and post graduate level.

Fatawu is pursuing a PhD. His main research area is in the domain of microfinance with particular emphasis on the impact of microfinance on poverty alleviation amongst farmers in Ghana.
