The School of Social, Historical and Political Studies offers a friendly and supportive environment to all our students.
Our services include:
- our dedicated Student Support Officers are available at the School reception desk in MC building and offer confidential advice on all aspects of your course including timetabling, modules, assessments, extenuating circumstances and academic regulations.
- within the University students can access Academic and other Support and Skills for Learning which offers one to one consultations, workshops and courses on a range of study skills including writing, referencing and examinations.
- our dedicated Special Needs Tutor, Jennifer Hulme liaises with students, the Student Enabling Centre and School Staff to ensure appropriate assistance is provided. Any student with special needs is welcome to discuss any aspect of their studies and the provision of support available to them.
- Every student in the School is also assigned a Personal Tutor to offer academic support and advice.

The team at our Faiths Centre welcomes everyone and opens every weekday, the centre is situated between Randall Lines and MX Building on uow_city_campus.pdf (PDF 457K, Downloads file).
The Students' Union Advice Centre advises on many aspects of student life and holds daily lunchtime support sessions.
The University also has its own subsidised nursery called 'Little Scholars' which enables parents to pursue higher education and employment.
