Chris Dittman dominated qualifying, setting the bar high for the other drivers on the grid. UWRs Shane Kelly couldn't quite match the pace of the top three and sat behind championship leader Jacopo Sebastiani in 6th place. With half a second separating 3rd - 6th; the right setup would be crucial to be towards the top of the grid.
First race of the weekend was an eventful one, with a wheel spin at the start that dropped Shane Kelly back to 7th. A shunt on lap 3 took out Wade Eastwood and dropped Sebastiani and Bishop to the back of the grid. Shane weaved through the carnage to take 6th place, which then quickly changed to 4th after some confident overtakes from the UWR driver.
A frustrating final second outing saw two yellow flags and a red flag which forced an early end to what is normally a twenty-minute race. CDRs Cian Carey spun on oil coming into Surtees, dropping him down to 7th. The frequent visit from the safety car stopped any real change in grid positions and lead Shane Kelly to finish the race in 6th place.
As it stands there are just 17 points between UWR and championship leader Jacopo Sebastiani. The final round takes place at Oulton Park on Saturday 28th October and consists of just two races. There's a small window for UWR to fight for the lead where driver Shane Kelly will have to win both races to be in for a chance of the title. Sounds like a battle worth fighting!
