Our graduates have taken up employment in the food and water industries as managers, technicians or research staff. Graduates from Animal Behaviour and Wildlife Conservation enter into employment with organisations in both the public and voluntary sectors, such as Natural England, The Wildlife Trust and the RSPB.

Forensic science is one of the most interesting, challenging and intriguing subject areas available. TV dramas like CSI have undoubtedly added a touch of glamour to the image of forensic science in solving crime and murders, but don't think that potential careers start and end with police work. There are opportunities to investigate across many job sectors


Our Biology Courses (Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics) have Recognition from the Royal Society of Biology. Recognition is only awarded to courses with significant biology content and automatically qualifies graduates for Associate Membership (AMSB) of the Society.

Forensic Science:

BSc Forensic Science at Wolverhampton is one of the first three University courses to be endorsed by Forensic Skillsmark.

Skillsmark is the recognised quality mark for learning and development programmes in the Justice and Community Safety sector. It is only awarded to learning programmes which have undergone the rigorous Skillsmark endorsement process.

Skillsmark endorsed programmes provide learners with the skills and knowledge they need for employment, skills that employers also want their staff to have. It also ensures that programmes are up to date and fit for purpose and have been designed specifically with employers’ needs in mind

Wolverhampton is the first University in the West Midlands to receive full accreditation by the Forensic Science Society (FSSoc) for BSc Forensic Science.

It meets all three of the FSSoc component standards which provide a quality endorsement of the course.

Links with Industry

We have strong links with local employers, arranging regular visits for our students to workplaces in order to learn more about current work practice. We encourage students to take advantage of work experience modules and these can be extended to form a year-long sandwich placement where you will gain valuable experience and establish useful employment contacts.
