I am a registered nurse and I have been very fortunate to have gained clinical experience that is extensive and diverse as I worked in a busy Emergency Department, gaining experience of caring for critically and acutely ill adults. Practice within this speciality allowed me to develop my nursing knowledge and skills to an independent competent practitioner. I consider that my teaching is enhanced through these varied experiences as they can be drawn upon to enrich the practice of learning. My clinical experience was further enhanced in the role of Ward Manager of a Trauma and Orthopaedic unit. Not only was my knowledge and skills enriched within this role but my management and leadership skills in nursing were also developed to a greater level. I gained an understanding and appreciation of the wider context of healthcare, which has developed my interest in leadership and change management.

I have experience of working as Lead Nurse for Pre- registration nursing in an acute NHS covering three hospital sites. . This role gave an opportunity to form links with the HEI and gain an understanding of the specific procedures and policies relating to the academic teaching of Pre registration nursing.
