Saphiya is a Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) programmes for the Institute of Education.
Her lecturing responsibilities include teaching on various modules that involve international, political and sociological perspectives relating to equality, culture and education. Saphiya is also an undergraduate research supervisor.
In term of her professional background, Saphiya has gained teaching experience in the Post-Compulsory Education Sector. Her previous position was as at the University of Derby, where she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the College of Education. Prior to this, Saphiya has worked in Further Education, and as a Foundation Stage teacher based in the South of England.
Saphiya holds the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and her qualifications include BA (Hons), MA and a PGCE. She is currently working towards her Doctorate, which focuses on religious beliefs of academic staff based in higher education.
Other duties involve working collaboratively with the Research Cluster for Readers and Writers at the University of Wolverhampton.
