I am a Senior Lecturer at Wolverhampton University working on a variety of teaching and research projects. My key responsibilities include developing, planning, and delivering teaching material that meets professional standards. The aim of these awards being to meet the current and future needs of the health care sector. I work closely with the NHS, Health Education England and local organisations to ensure our awards are relevant to the needs of future employers of our students.

Prior to entering nurse education I worked as a registered nurse within the United Kingdom and internationally. The focus of my clinical practice was related to heart health working in the areas of cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiac transplantation and cardiac rehabilitation. Working within the area of cardiac nursing enabled me to combine my mental health nursing skills with those of adult nursing.

In 2002 I took the brave step to leave clinical practice and enter the new and exciting world of professional education and haven’t looked back. I have gained experience in a variety of teaching and assessment methods and have worked with professional regulatory bodies in assuring the quality of professional education in both the academic and clinical arena. In addition to this work I have several years’ experience as an external examiner to various UK based Universities and have been involved in several curriculum design and approval processes.
