I am currently Head of Primary Education at the University of Wolverhampton.
As a Teacher Educator, I have led on primary science modules for both undergraduate and postgraduate primary teaching courses leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
I am currently studying for my Professional Doctorate, with a focus on teacher-led research and self-efficacy. Research interests have also focused on the social and emotional benefits of outdoor education; the topic for my Master’s thesis. I have completed Level 3 Forest School training.
Other research interests include a study of the benefits of an international teaching experience on ITE trainees, an area that l have presented on at both national and international conferences.
I have worked with schools to develop Action Research, led CPD sessions on teaching inspiration and creative practical science and taken both trainees and Head teachers to experience teaching and learning in Sweden, India and Gambia in West Africa.
Prior to becoming a principal lecturer, I taught in primary schools in Shropshire and the West Midlands for fourteen years after completing a four years BEd Hons degree in English.
