I am an experienced teacher educator in the field of secondary science education. I have been pathway leader for the University of Wolverhampton secondary science programmes since 2003 successfully training several hundred science teachers for the Black Country region and beyond. As a consequence I have developed a substantial network of science teachers in schools throughout the West Midlands.

I have active research interests in the fields of science pedagogy and secondary teacher education, which are currently combined in my work towards an EdD in the field of science teacher education.

Prior to joining the university I was both Head of Science and Assistant Headteacher at an 11 to 19 high school in Staffordshire, teaching secondary science and A ‘level physics in West Midlands schools for 17 years. In this context I was also involved with teacher education as both mentor and school coordinator for trainee teachers.
