Mrs Megan Thomas

Head of Academic Quality

Email address: Phone number: 01902 8841 Location: Walsall Faculty: Faculty of Education Health and Wellbeing School/Institute: Academic Quality Areas of expertise: Academic Quality

Whilst I am an adult nurse by background I have worked in the HE sector for 20+ years. During this time I worked for many years in the education of pre and post registration nursing developing expertise in the development and delivery of programmes of learning which met the needs of professional partners. Whilst my ability to work collaboratively with others led to the development of many new educational partnerships, my interest in ensuring students achieved an equitable, challenging but enjoyable experience which meets national and professional standards led to my current role as Head of Academic Standards. I strongly believe that quality assurance and the equity of the student experience are fundamental to a successful and sustainable teaching and learning experience.

My leadership style is facilitative and through my enthusiasm I am able to motivate others, leading by example. This is evidenced through a variety of projects that I have led, supporting and co-ordinating others and actively participating in the process. I seek to use this opportunity to learn together, building on the expertise of individual group members to improve the quality and outcome of the project.

I have been an External Advisor for several programmes of learning from Undergraduate to Doctorate level at a range of universities providing support and advice to developmental teams.  I have also been an External Examiner at several universities for a range of Professional Undergraduate and Post Graduate programmes ensuring I have a sound knowledge and understanding of the HE sector and PSRB requirements.
