I began working at the university to help structure the new PGCE qualification in secondary drama in 2015. Throughout my career I had mentored trainee teachers and held the role of subject lead for the University of Wolverhampton for the GTP qualification, until it was phased out. It was a natural step to apply for the full-time post of subject lead for the PGCE drama course. Prior to working at the university I spent twenty-five years working in an urban secondary school as head of drama in a busy performing arts faculty. Before moving to the West Midlands I gained invaluable experience working in the filed of drama and the arts with children who had been categorised as SEND. This was a multi-funded post that involved the creation and delivery of drama and play in a local hospital (family support unit) as well as schools. These experiences have given me a passion for drama and the educational, social and emotional gains it can offer to all.
