I am a Senior Lecturer in Secondary Computing. My professional experience comprises a 13 year teaching career in Secondary Education, where I have formerly been a Head of Department of a large IT/Computer Science team, and prior to that I have held various teaching and learning responsibilities in Birmingham comprehensive schools. I am a fully trained teacher training mentor and I am now actively involved in the training of new Computing teachers on a range of ITT programmes, including both undergraduate, postgraduate and school-based routes. I also deliver Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses in Secondary Computing, as well as providing CPD to schools in both the primary and secondary sector on a range of IT/Computing related themes, including e-Safety, 14-19 qualifications advice and subject knowledge support. My other role within the Secondary Education Department is the Pre-ITE Recruitment Lead, where I oversee all aspects of new recruitment, including applicant nurturing, conditions, professional skills tests support, and admissions liaison. I have worked with the University of Wolverhampton on their teacher training programmes for several years, and have been able to contribute to previous OfSTED inspections as well as acted as a teacher moderator for the PGCE programme. Prior to my appointment, I also worked part time for 3 years as a Visiting Lecturer at the University during the summer months. My research interests include Digital Literacy, e-Safety, mentoring and teacher resilience.
