Ms Fiona Beeken

Lecturer in Midwifery

Email address: Phone number: 01902 8823 Location: Walsall Campus Faculty: Faculty of Education Health and Wellbeing School/Institute: Institute of Health Professions Areas of expertise: Midwifery

Fiona is a new addition to the midwifery education team, commencing in post in September 2017.  She is a registered, practising midwife, having gained registration and a BSc Midwifery Studies First Class (Hons.) from the University of Wolverhampton in February 2010.

Fiona has held a number of clinical and midwifery leadership roles since qualification, including the provision of antenatal, postnatal and intrapartum care, risk management, practice education and culminating in her most recent midwifery matron role at a local Trust.

Prior to undertaking clinical training, Fiona was a trained health service general manager, and held senior management roles within NHS organisations.  Her dual training provides a sound base for promoting effective clinical management in the provision of safe, quality services.

She has now refocussed her career into midwifery education within an HEI setting but continues to undertake clinical work in order to maintain the skills and experience necessary to develop midwives of the future.

She is currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with the University of Wolverhampton, and will return to her MSc Midwifery Studies programme once this is completed.
