I started my career as a nurse in 1983, undertaking my nurse training programme at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.  On completion, I worked first as a registered nurse in acute medicine and then moved on to specialise in Cardiac Nursing, spending the remainder of my nursing career as a Sister on a busy coronary care unit.  Moving into higher education in 2004, my main teaching and learning interests are cardiology nursing, care and treatment of the acutely ill patient, clinical nursing skills, and ethics in health and social care.
