Professional experience has been in acute, urgent and emergency care and then in Nurse education.

Teaching and areas of expertise include :-

Resuscitation, Basic & Advanced Life Support, clinical skills, nursing care practice especially of the acutely ill, Teaching on 4NH011- Preparation for Practice, 5HW025 – Legal, Ethical and Professional issues; Module leader for 4NH009 – Introduction to Adult Nursing; Module co-ordinator for 6NH010 – Skills for Caring for the Acutely Ill Adult in Diverse Settings; 6NH004 – Nursing Care of the Acutely Ill Adult.

As part of practice team:- the support of students and their mentors in placement; the planning and allocation of placements; the monitoring and educational audit of these placements; delivery of practice mentor updates as part of academic and Trust practice team; delivery of planned support and practice development and evaluation sessions for student Nurses –again along with colleagues from the academic and Trust practice team.

For many years I have been one of two Academic practice leads supporting  students and mentors at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust. I shall soon be taking up the role of Deputy Head of Practice.
