Teaching in Professional Practice (6HW064)

This module aims to develop the knowledge and skills of the ‘Specialist Community Nursing’ practitioner who wishes to become a community practice teacher responsible for student health visitors, district nurses, school nurses or general practice nurses  with the aim of supporting the learning and assessment of pre-registration and post qualifying Specialist Practice students studying for professional qualification. Applicants will need support of their line manager and show evidence of having studied or be able to accredit  a ‘ professional mentorship’ award/ experience for entry.

To access the course, you will need to demonstrate that you:

- will be able to support a specialist community health nurse student post registration and have access to the student for a period of one year

- will be on the same part of the NMC register as the specialist practice student you would support

- will have access to a qualified practice teacher for the duration of the course and also for a one year period post completion of  the course

- you will be recorded on your Trusts register of mentors.
