Having both a Design History and Electronic Graphics background has enabled me to work at many Midlands colleges and across a wide variety of courses. When appointed to my current post in Graphic Design at the University of Wolverhampton, in 1999, my broad educational background and wide range of interests have been beneficial in my teaching across Contextual, Graphics and Screen-based modules on a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate modules. It has also helped in my development of an Ideas Generation and Design Process that I apply in my teaching which integrates, contextual research with visual ideas development.

Research interests

Currently pursuing research interests into how the study of vernacular and contemporary uses of timber construction can be linked to interactive computer environments.

My first degree was in Design History; this was followed by a Masters in Electronic Design.

Experience in industry

Prior to working as a Lecturer I worked for many years in the Aerospace and Electrical industries as well as in the Civil Service.

Further information

I am interested in developing strategies for the integrated teaching of industry standard software alongside the Process of Design Development, particularly when applied to Motion Graphics, Web Design and Multimedia.
