We’ve caught up with BA (Hons) Visual Communication (Graphic Design) graduate Tom Crump who has been awarded The Derwent Award for Visualising!Tom Crump 2

1. What degree did you study with us and when did you graduate?

I studied BA (Hons) Visual Communication (Graphic Design) and I graduated in September 2016.

2. What did you do after graduation?

I worked full time as a Graphic Designer for a Wolverhampton PR Agency.

3. What is your current job?

My current role is Junior Graphic Designer for a Scientific and Chemical Supplies company. I work as part of a Marketing team and my main duties include: producing marketing collateral, company catalogues, brochures, booklets, web content, video content and photography.

4. What’s the best part of your job?

Easily the best part of the job is being able to work within such a creative team that I can connect with on the same level to create ideas and see them flourish from start to finish.

5. How did studying at the University of Wolverhampton either help you to gain this job – or how have your studies benefitted you in your day-to-day role?

Studying at the University of Wolverhampton equipped me with the relevant skills needed to succeed in my chosen career path, not only job-specific skills but the skill to communicate and network with people in my industry to provide limitless opportunities to capitalise on.

6. What, for you, was the best part of studying at the University of Wolverhampton?

The best part of studying at the University of Wolverhampton was having the support and guidance from tutors and industry professionals that understood me on a personal level and knew what I was capable of and pushed me to achieve what I didn't believe I could.

7. What’s next for you? Any goals or aspirations still to achieve?

My current goal is to climb the design ladder; meet new people, learn new skills and always be on the lookout for amazing experiences that will enhance me as an individual.
