Our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and our BA (Hons) Drama and Musical Theatre courses are designed to prepare you for a career in the industry. With a focus on developing your performance, academic and analytical skills, our courses encourage you to think creatively about your opportunities in the Arts industry.
Through working with practitioners and performers of Musical Theatre you will gain transferable skills that will prepare you for the world of work. All staff are industry specialists with years of experience in their relevant discipline.
The programme is delivered in partnership with Perfect Pitch Musicals.
This new course consists of regular technique classes in dance (jazz, contemporary, ballet and tap), acting and vocal skills, and will provide you with the opportunity to participate in performances from the vast repertoire of musical theatre.
Our industry specialists will train you to become a healthy performer. Academic study will encourage you to think critically about musical theatre through assessing current trends and encouraging you to create your own original productions.
You'll be taught by a range of specialist staff, headed up by Course Leader, Sarah Browne. You'll also benefit from our excellent facilities as the course is taught in our purpose-built performing arts building, The Performance Hub.
The BA in Musical Theatre is also focused on equipping you with employability skills which increase your chances of becoming a performer, teacher, arts instructor, production assistant or artistic director.
Through regular workshops with industry specialists and musical theatre companies and composers, the BA in Musical Theatre will foster your passion and enable you to communicate effectively through performance.
We are now members of Musical Theatre Network, a membership organisation with three aims: to facilitate and support the creation of new musical theatre; to champion its role within the performing arts; and to build the community that will help to sustain it.
We aim to work closely with MTN over the coming months, and look forward to hosting events and engaging in development opportunities between our students and musical theatre professionals from across the country.
