Global conference welcomes delegates from across the world

The University of Wolverhampton hosted the international Construction in the 21st Century Global Conference (CITC11) in London recently welcoming delegates from across the globe.

CITC is an organisation backed by East Carolina University that organises international conferences to bring together like-minded construction management professionals. CITC events have brought together diverse groups of academics, professionals, government agencies and students from all over the world to contribute to the future growth of the industry.

The University of Wolverhampton welcomed over 100 key industry and academic practitioners with representative from 35 countries. Caroline Gumble, CEO at the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), opened the two day conference which was held in Westminster and at the House of Commons.

Dr Paul Hampton, Associate Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University, said:  “This is the first time the CITC Conference has been hosted in the UK and was a perfect opportunity to showcase how the UK is pressing ahead with research and industry collaborations and I was delighted to see delegates from across the world in attendance.

“The conference comes at an exciting time for the University. We have embarked on an ambitious £100 million brownfield regeneration project and will be opening a new School of Architecture and Built Environment on the site of Springfield Campus, a former brewery.  Importantly speakers reinforced the importance of the built environment and the role the sector plays in shaping our environment.”

Find out more about the Springfield Campus.  If you’re interested in studying Architecture and Built Environment register for our next Open Day on Saturday 16th November 2019.
