An enthusiastic University of Wolverhampton student has won a prestigious national nursing award.

Aimie Morgan was named Student Information Officer of the Year at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Awards in Liverpool on Sunday.

Adult Nursing Student Aimie was recognised for her “infectious enthusiasm” for nursing and has been successful in engaging large groups of members in the West Midlands region.

Aimie, who studies at the University’s Burton Campus, has played a key role in the College’s Fund Our Future campaign and has recently been involved in the Nursing Now England campaign.

The 30-year-old from Ashby-de-la-Zouch said: “I first attended RCN Congress this time two years ago where I was inspired to become a Student Information Officer. I am absolutely thrilled to have been nominated at all but to win is incredible and totally unexpected. I’m pleased to be considered a voice of nursing but also represent the University and its nursing programme.”

The Congress 2019 opening ceremony in Liverpool saw RCN awards bestowed on a wide range of nurses who have made an exceptional contribution to the College and the wider profession.

Representative of the Year awards go to safety reps, stewards, learning reps and student information officers who have made a real difference in their workplace or university.
