Partnership extends international reach in China

The University of Wolverhampton has signed a partnership agreement with a leading teaching establishment in Hong Kong – extending its international reach in China.

The Memorandum of Co-operation (MOC) has been signed with the School of Continuing & Professional Education (SCOPE) at the City University of Hong Kong.

The five year partnership has been formally signed and will mean that the University of Wolverhampton will continue to deliver top-up degree courses in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying.

The ‘Flying Faculty’ involves academic staff based at the Wolverhampton City Campus teaching the courses in Hong Kong. The programmes have been taught for 18 years and approximately 1,200 students have graduated.

Conrad Fung, a recent graduate in Construction Management and Managing Director at Chueng Kee Fung Chueng Ltd, his own business in Hong Kong, said: “The degree course delivered as part of this partnership was really beneficial for me.

“For any student who wants to progress their career, this course also offers professional membership to the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Surveyors as well as membership to professional bodies in the UK.”

Professor Geoff Layer, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “China is one of our region’s biggest global partners and this agreement will further strengthen our ties with the country.

“We’ve had a significant presence in China for many years and, during this time, we’ve hosted a considerable number of students who have chosen to study at one of our campuses.

“This partnership will focus on continuing to develop new business whilst enhancing the student and staff experience with exchange trips and research collaboration.”
