Free blood sugar and blood pressure screening will be offered at the University of Wolverhampton next week to raise awareness of diabetes.
The checks will be available between 10am and 4.30pm at the University's City Campus next Wednesday (May 1) in the main foyer of the Millennium City Building, along with advice on diabetes prevention and management and a talk on healthy living.
The awareness-raising day is the first of several dates across a variety of locations and part of a bigger project on diabetes awareness led by Dr Opeolu Ojo from the University's Diabetes Research Group.
Dr Ojo said: “The incidence of diabetes continues to rise within the population across the United Kingdom and the West Midlands particularly has one of the worst national statistics.
"This project is part of the community engagement efforts of the Diabetes Research Group at the University, which is aimed at promoting awareness and providing public education on diabetes.”
