A new Executive Head and Headteacher have been appointed at a Wolverhampton secondary school.

Kerry Inscker has been newly appointed to the position of Executive Headteacher at Smestow School in Windmill Crescent, Castlecroft.

She joins Angie Lawrence, who has been promoted from her role as Deputy Head to her new position as Head of School, replacing Martyn Morgan who has retired.

Mrs Inscker has previously been Principal at South Wolverhampton and Bilston (SWB) Academy for eight years and held a number of senior leadership positions in a range of schools and local authorities.

Smestow is part of the University of Wolverhampton Multi-Academy Trust.

Georgina Lahiri, Chair of the Board of Governors at the school, said: “The Board of Governors were involved in the recruitment process for the Executive Headteacher and felt that Kerry shared the same ambition for Smestow as the governors, senior leadership team and the Head of School.

“She brings a drive and enthusiasm that will support and enhance the work of Angie Lawrence and her team and together they will make a positive difference to the lives of all the students at the school.”

New Executive Headteacher, Mrs Inscker, said: “Angie and I are very ambitious for the students and staff at Smestow School and have already begun the journey of driving the school towards being outstanding.

“The staff, students and parents have been fantastic in welcoming us and share our determination and high expectations.”

The school is having its first Open Evening under the new leadership team on September 27 between 3:30pm and 8:30pm for entry into Year 7 and Sixth form for September 2019 or 2020, where a warm welcome will be extended to families from across the area. Please contact the school directly if you would like to visit at another time.

The University of Wolverhampton Multi-Academy Trust was formerly the Education Central Multi-Academy Trust. It was established in 2013 and is made up of 13 academies – 10 primary and three secondary schools - across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
