The short and long-term impact on education outcomes for children who suffer illness will be discussed in a University of Wolverhampton lecture.

Dr Daniel Roland from the University of Kent will visit Wolverhampton on Wednesday, 24 October 2018.

The free lecture is open to all and will take place in room MU504 of the Lord Swraj Paul Building, Molineux Street, from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Alessandro Cusimano, Lecturer in Economics, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Daniel Roland to present his lecture, which is titled transitory health shocks and educational performance: is there a lasting effect?

“Based on his research, the lecture will explore how sick children are affected in the short-run and long-run according to how long they remain ill. The research indicates that the impact seems to be bigger for older children but the effect goes away with time.”

Dr Daniel Roland is a Research Associate at the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) at the University of Kent.
