Professor Ian Oakes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The Sixties was a boom time for the University of Wolverhampton. The Wolverhampton Technical College began to provide Bachelor’s degrees and held its first ever degree ceremony in 1967. On 1st September 1969, the College was officially designated a Polytechnic.

“It will be wonderful for our current students to take a step back in time to explore how education might have looked in one of the most fast moving decades of our time.  Our displays will also give visitors an insight into how far the University has progressed over time, showcasing what we offer now and how we contribute to the local economic success of our communities.”

Wing Commander Christopher Jones, Officer Commanding No 1 School of Technical Training in the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering at RAF Cosford, said: ‘I am delighted to once more welcome the University of Wolverhampton to the RAF Cosford Air Show.

“Our partnership is a key component to solving the STEM challenge that we face in the Midlands area and across the country. The RAF Cosford Air Show is a great opportunity for the University to showcase their superb work and every year our visitors enjoy seeing amazing ground displays.

“Working together, we have forged a strong alliance that showcases the exceptional value of STEM careers and the benefit that is provided to the nation. I am also pleased that our strong partnership will endure via the imminent launch of the Whittle Academy of Engineering at RAF Cosford that seeks to blend the expertise of academia, UK industry and the RAF.”
