Photography brings fashion to life for Clothes Show

30/01/2017

University of Wolverhampton Fashion and Photography students collaborated recently on a project in the run up to the Clothes Show which was held at the National Exhibition Centre in December.

Final year degree Fashion & Textiles students had a photoshoot with second year and final year Photography students to create a live experience for both courses.  The students worked to a specific brief, offering them the opportunity to experience hands-on, practical experience.

The Fashion students were tasked with creating outfits for the Clothes Show with the theme of jet black and/or optic white. The outfits reflected the students’ individual concepts and six outfits were chosen to be showcased on the catwalk at the Clothes Show.

Fashion and photography lecturers selected three of the best shots from the day to print for the stand.

Jo Bloodworth, Senior Lecturer in Fashion & Textiles at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “It was really great to see students from different courses collaborating on a project which showcases the talent and creativity of our different disciplines.  We’ve worked together to create some amazing pieces of work.”

Dr Euripides Altintzoglou, Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “Our photography students took real advantage of this amazing opportunity to shoot twelve collections for the Fashion students.  Exciting projects like this really bring energy to the dynamics of our school and the images that were produced really brought the fashion collection to life.”

University of Wolverhampton staff and students attended the Clothes Show in December and took the opportunity to talk to prospective students about fashion and textiles and what courses are on offer at the Wolverhampton School of Art.

Anyone interested in studying at the Wolverhampton School of Art should attend the next Open Day on Saturday 4th February 2017.
