Crystal Lecture 2015

The University of Wolverhampton’s annual keynote business lecture is being delivered by the President of the Chartered Management Institute, Mike Clasper. President of CMI, Mike Clasper, is the keynote speaker of 2015's Crystal Lecture

The lecture will take place on Thursday, 22 October in MC001 from 6pm till 9pm.

Arranged by the University’s Business School, this year’s event will be focusing on the ideas of developing the next generation of management and leadership.

Key points in this year’s lecture will look at why a sense of purpose is fundamental to every well-managed organisation, why managers need more confidence to tackle difficult conversations and how UK plc can stop creating “accidental managers” and develop the potential of the next generation.

Mike Clasper has outstanding experience across a wide range of organisations, including private, public, third sector, FTSE 350 and SMEs.

Mike took over Presidency of CMI in October 2014. He is non-executive Chairman of Coats Group plc as well as a Senior Independent Director at Serco PLC and Chairman of Which Ltd. He also held a number of senior executive positions at Proctor & Gamble.

He said: “It is a huge honour to have been asked to deliver this year’s Crystal Lecture.

“I feel privileged that the University of Wolverhampton’s Business School wanted me to deliver this talk and give my insight into developing the next generation of management and leadership.”

Miceal Barden, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, said: “We are honoured that Mike Clasper will be delivering this year’s Crystal Lecture.

“The topic of effective leadership and management and how to develop it will be of real interest to the audience and the Business School is delighted to welcome such a high profile guest to the University.”
