Sportsfest 2015, organised by the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing’s Institute of Sport, gave pupils from Years 11-13 a taster of different sports and promoted the benefits of physical activity, as well as delivering an insight into educational pathways for careers in sport.

Dr Chris Sellars, Head of Outreach & Development in the Institute of Sport, said: “The students really enjoyed their time with us, learning about university life whilst gaining experience relevant to their current courses.

“Over the two day event, they participated in practical sports sessions from a football penalty competition to martial arts, as well as debating hot topics in sport, participating in various sports science activities and looking in-depth at areas such as sports leadership.”

The football penalty shootout was supported by West Bromwich Albion F.C.
