The Student Nursing Times Awards

Members of staff and students from the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing celebrated the success of their hard work this month in the Student Nursing Times Awards.

Staff and students from the University were nominated in six different categories, more than any other institution, in this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards.

The ceremony took place this year on Thursday, 7 May at the London Hilton Hotel.

The venue welcomed 820 guests to the prestigious award ceremony that had shortlisted it’s nominees down to a record breaking 158 finalists.

The awards enable institutions to be recognised for the‌ir achievements and commitments to support the nursing profession and its future.

Head of Adult Nursing, Clare Corness-Parr said: “We are very proud that our student nurses and staff here at the university were finalists in 5 categories for the Student Nursing Times Awards.

“This included finalists Louise Goodyear  in the 'inspirational student' category, Alison Geeson and students and the SUCCESS group in the 'collaborative innovation' category, Jackie Mitchell and Carol France in the 'Return to practice team' category , The Learning Disability Team in the pre-registration academic team of the year and Tracie Jones in the 'Care Maker of the year’ category

“Though we were nominated, these awards recognise the immense commitment staff and students put into the work that they do and we are confident that our nominees have gained the recognition they deserve for their contributions”

Student Nominee Louise Goodyear said: “Being shortlisted was an amazing achievement and something that I never imagined would ever happen.

“Attending the Student Nursing Times Awards, as a finalist with other members of the University of Wolverhampton was an absolutely wonderful feeling.

“I hope it will inspire other student nurses to nominate mentors, education establishments and placements and also students themselves to share the brilliant work we all undertake on a daily basis.”

Nominations are submitted online and finalists are then selected for nomination and the prize giving at the ceremony in London.

• Jackie Mitchell- Return to Practice Award
• Dr Pete Eggison/ Learning Disability Team- BN Honours Learning Disability Course
• Alison Geeson- Collaborative Teaching Award
• University of Wolverhampton- Education provider of the Year
• University of Wolverhampton- Return to practice course of the year
