University students snap Wolves experience

Charlotte Walker and Ben Mortimer, two second year students studying Photography at the University of Wolverhampton have secured a seasonal placement with Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.

The talented students secured their placement after impressing staff with their photography skills during a trial day last month.

Both students will be attending every home game this season to take snaps of football players, fans and action on the pitch.

Gemma Hale, Commercial Manager at Wolves said:  “Both students are providing a great service in capturing the match day experience at Molineux for our corporate supporters.

“The professionalism, quality and consistency of their photography has been very impressive and we’ve received many positive comments from our match day visitors.

“We look forward to what will hopefully be a long standing working arrangement.”

Wolves supporter Ben, states he is currently in his element photographing and meeting some of his football idols.

Wolves Photography students 2Charlotte, from Sutton Coldfield, said: “I’m so excited and proud to be representing two of the biggest establishments in the city - The University of Wolverhampton and Wolves FC.

“We have had the best experience so far, from meeting players to getting hands-on experience in a professional environment where we can push our creativity to the limit.

“The commercial team are so encouraging and supportive, I couldn’t ask for a better way to start my career.”

Charlotte and Ben photographed their first match during the Wolves Vs Middlesbrough game on October 21.

Both students state their experience with Wolves has enhanced their skills, improved their creativity and given them a boost of confidence in their camera work.

Ben, from Dudley, has taken snapshots through a fish eye lens filter to create new and effective images.

The 20-year-old aims to continue progressing into a career as a professional sports photographer.

Charlotte, aged 19, intends to further her expertise and study a Masters degree in photography after she graduates from her Bachelor’s Degree in 2016.

She also aims to become a professional commercial photographer with her own successful business.
